POLICE have warned Landrover owners to take extra precautions after 10 of the vehicles were stolen in Lancaster and the surrounding area in the past three and a half months.
Lancashire police's Northern division, which also covers the Garstang area, says a series of Landrover Discovery and Defender vehicles have been taken, the most recent being stolen this weekend.
Det Sgt Mark Salisbury of Lancaster police said: "Quite clearly this type of vehicle is being targeted and there have been a range of methods of stealing.
"This ranges from the obvious to entering garages and stealing a set of keys from a garage on one occasion.
" They are sought after vehicles, but by far and away they are the most widely stolen vehicle in this area in recent months.
"We are asking the owners to review their security arrangements and report any suspicious activity to use immediately."
