Leigh RU 10, Northwich 32: LEIGH'S recent run of poor form continued when visitors Northwich gained revenge for an ealier home defeat.
Leigh started well when a good passage of handling and support play was finished off with a try in the corner by Darbyshire for a 5-0 lead.
But this was soon lost when a defensive mix-up failed to clear a loose ball, allowing Northwich a simple converted try, followed shortly afterwards with a penalty, to put them 10-5 up.
Leigh responded well when Hampson made a fine break up the right wing before handing to Prescott for a touchdown to level the scores at half-time.
Northwich adapted better to the conditions in the second half and put Leigh under pressure with some astute kicking which produced a number of mistakes and handling errors from the home side while trying to run the ball out of defence.
They were rewarded with two tries, one converted and a penalty for a comfortable 25-10 lead.
The result was sealed when an aimless kick was gathered by the visiting full back to send the winger on a 50-metre run-in for a converted try.
