DIVISION Two table-toppers Howe Bridge Mills' stirring run in the Davenport Cup hit a brick wall in the form of Fir Tree Rangers at the quarter-final stage.
The side currently next to bottom of the Division One table shook off disappointing league form for some cup success, scoring three goals in 17 second half minutes to win a place in the last four.
Mark Fielding netted twice on 53 and 72 minutes sandwiched between Danny Laycock's 70th minute strike.
The Redwaters Coronation Cup the Round One tie between Horns Inn and Fir Tree Rangers finally went ahead with the home side just scraping through 4-3. Andy Tipping bagged two, Aiden Lavery and Gary Yates one each for Horns with Mick and John McNally and Tony Parkinson replying for Fir Tree.
In Round Two, Higher Folds breezed through with a 5-0 away win at Courts, Neil Clayton finding form again with four goals and Warren Knowles getting in on the act with one.
The quarter final of the same competition saw Courts win through with a 5-1 home victory over Limelight, Tony Boardman getting a hat-trick and Matt Disley a brace.
