SHAKERS boss Andy Preece is hoping more composure in the last third of the field will give his side the edge over relegation rivals AFC Bournemouth.
The Cherries are the visitors to Gigg Lane tomorrow in what supporters are hoping won't be the last ever home game ahead of the clubs court case over their outstanding £1 million mortgage.
With one victory in the past fifteen games and Bury boasting one in twelve there are similarities in both clubs' situations and not only in their recent records.
"Bournemouth are in a similar position to us both on and off the field," said Preece.
"They have a lot of young players and their wage bill is something like ours.
"Games against them are pretty open, last year there were seven goals in the game at Gigg Lane and we lost 3-2 at their place earlier in the season.
"It'll be a case of who creates and takes the better chances on the day."
That's something that Preece has been working on with his players this week in the hope that the goal drought that is affecting results will come to a timely end.
"We need more composure on the ball in the last third of the field," he added. "It's all about seeing the pass, getting your head up and seeing where the runners are and where the space is.
"The players know they can do it and we've been working on it all week."
The manager is also looking for another increased attendance similar to the one that followed last weeks news of the club's off-field problems.
"We only asked 24 hours before the game last week and there was a magnificent response from people.
"Hopefully, a week later, everyone in the town will know about the situation we are in and will come down tomorrow."
Striker Gareth Seddon is unlikely to be back for the Shakers tomorrow as his hamstring strain appears worse than first thought.
George Clegg has been suffering from a virus during the week but full back Lee Unsworth (virus) could be fit as could Paul Reid.
Kick-off at Gigg Lane is 3pm.
