THE development of integrated transport in Greater Manchester has taken a step forward with the introduction of a new combined train and bus ticket.
And the new ticket, from First, will provide rail passengers with convenient access to the company's entire Manchester bus network.
A spokesman said: "With our colleagues at First North Western, we've been working hard to identify bus and rail integration opportunities that will deliver real value and convenience benefits for customers."
For an additional £1 on top of the normal train fare, rail customers will be able to buy a "FirstDay add-on".
Coun Roger Jones, chairman of Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority, said: "If we're to reduce traffic congestion and the number of single occupancy car journeys, we need to have a more integrated local transport network and this scheme is unquestionably another positive move in that direction."
