POLICE have urged lone women to be more vigilant after a pensioner was the victim of an attempted robbery.
The 60-year-old woman was walking along Nuttall Old Road in Ramsbottom when she was approached by a thug and pushed to the ground.
He attempted to grab her handbag, but fled empty-handed. Police say he may have been armed with a knife.
Police are anxious to speak to anyone who witnessed the attempted robbery which happened at 7.30pm on Thursday (Feb 14).
Meanwhile, officers have appealed to women walking alone to be more vigilant and to use well-lit areas.
Anyone with information about the attempted robbery should contact Bury operational police unit on either 856 8149 or 856 8157.
