A LOOK at the latest releases including R Kelly, Ozzy Osbourne and the Lighthouse Family.
R KELLY: The World's Greatest
GET those tissues at the ready because R Kelly's back with another upsettingly awful ballad. This is an emotional tribute to Muhammad Ali taken from Will Smith's film about the boxer. Probably a hit.
OZZY OSBOURNE: Dreamer
BLACK Sabbath frontman Ozzy shows his emotional side with this growling ballad. Heartfelt and anthemic, it's quite a departure for Ozzy but isn't that memorable among the current rock invasion of the charts.
BEVERLEY KNIGHT: Shoulda Woulda Coulda
GREAT title, shame about the song. British R&B's greatest underachiever goes for another crack at chart success with this slow-paced soul tune. Bev's got a great voice so when will someone give her a great tune?
LIGHTHOUSE FAMILY: Run
MORE catchy pop from the Lighthouse Family. This summery soul tune with its tearful lyrics will be a hit with fans of the band but probably won't make much of a mark on the charts.
JIVE JONES: Me, Myself & I
HE'S already written songs for Anastacia and Mandy Moore but now Jive Jones is trying his own luck in the charts. But his mix of pop, funk and rock is more irritating than interesting.
BUBBA SPARXXX: Lovely
MUCH more tuneful than his Top 10 hit Ugly, this second single shows Bubba Sparxxx is definitely more Eminem than Vanilla Ice. Another surefire hit for the rotund rapper.CL
