MOTORISTS travelling in and out of Blackpool via the M6 can expect delays due to £5.2 million resurfacing works this month, the Highways Agency has warned.
The third phase of the multi-million pound resurfacing scheme between junction 28 at Leyland and the junction of the M6 and M61 began earlier this month.
As part of the work, the northbound entry sliproad at Junction 29 -- Bamber Bridge -- will be closed from 10pm tomorrow (Friday) until 5am on Monday.
A signposted diversion will be in use via the M6/M65/M61.
Throughout the resurfacing works the motorway is reduced to two lanes in each direction during the day and to one lane at night when necessary.
There is a 50mph speed limit with speed cameras in operation, backed up by a "cricket scoreboard" totalling the number of speeding motorists caught as a further warning.
The third phase was originally due to have started on January 19 but was delayed due to additional unforeseen work needing to be done and poor weather conditions.
