ON SATURDAY 3rd February, young athletes from Bury Athletic Club competed in the Greater Manchester Sports Hall Athletics County Championships.
The under 11 girls were represented by Alix McDermott, Rachael Moran, Holly Chapman and Elicia Beech. All four girls put up a spirited and fine performance.
The under 11 boys were represented by four boys from the under 8 team, these were Leo Burke, Edward Beech, Mark Kelly and Joseph Jackson.
Mark Kelly came a very creditable fifth in the one lap final and all four boys gained bronze medal success in the 4 x 2 lap relay.
The under 13 girls were Kiera Harrison, Kirsty Crowe, Clare Jackson and Natasha Edwards. Again, a good all-round performance with Clare Jackson winning silver in the shot and Natsha Edwards coming 6th in the 4 lap final.
The under 13 boys had a great day with four new-comers to the club. Chris Bramagh won the two lap final, followed closely by Tom Driver in an excellent fifth place.
Tom Main and Aaron Brenner proved their future potential as great middle distance runners by coming 4th and 6th in the six lap final. The four boys also came second in the 4 x 2 lap relay.
The under 15 boys and girls were represented by Roxanne Harrison, Leah Morris, Hugh Davies, Sam Booth, Liam Warburton and Chris Hertzog. Well done to Hugh who came 5th and 4th in the two and four lap finals. And to Sam who came 6th in the four lap. The boys also came third in the 4 x 2 lap relay.
Lastly, congratulations to Clare Jackson and Chris Bramagh who have been called up to represent Greater Manchester in the regional finals to be held at Wigan on Saturday 2nd March.
