DARWEN defender Andy Walsh has turned down a move to UniBond First Division side Kendal Town.
The Kendal manager, former Great Harwood boss Pete Smith, made an approach and Darwen boss Steve Wilkes told Walsh he was free to go.
"I would never stand in the way of a player who had the chance to play at a higher level but he has said no anyway. He said he was happy where he is," said Wilkes.
Wilkes has signed former Bamber Bridge defender Sean McHugh.
Darwen face Oldham Town at home tomorrow in NWCL Division Two with Scott Derbyshire and Dave Rhodes suspended. Lee Webb should return from an ankle injury.
