STANLEY are looking to boost their squad with the addition of Great Harwood's promising defender Andrew Proctor.
The 19-year-old has caught Reds manager John Coleman's eye after a series of strong performances for the NWCL Division One outfit.
Coleman went to watch him when Harwood played at St Helens and was impressed with what he saw.
"He can play as a central defender and a central midfielder," said the Reds chief.
"He is only a young lad but he is good on the ball and has the makings of a very good player.
"I will be speaking to him and we will see what happens."
Harwood boss Denis Underwood is disappointed to lose his main man who has been a big success at the Showground since he snapped him up from Clitheroe Reserves.
Underwood said: "I would like to keep Andrew here until the end of the season but we cannot compete with the financial packages the likes of Accrington Stanley have to offer."
If the Reds do seal a deal with Proctor he could go straight into contention for tomorrow's UniBond Premier League clash at home to Flixton.
Coleman hasn't ruled out bringing the teenager straight into the squad with Stanley struggling with injuries.
Steve Hollis, Paul Burns and Steve Halford all missed Tuesday night's 1-0 Marsden Lancashire Cup semi final victory over Burscough where Stanley secured a place in the final against either Premier League outfit Barrow or NWCL Division One side Clitheroe.
Burns (ankle), Halford (stitches in shin) and Hollis (knee) look likely to miss out tomorrow although they could have late fitness tests.
"Steve Hollis is going to have to see a specialist about his knee and Paul and Steve Halford are both struggling.
"I would say they are struggling. That could mean Andy could come in - but we will have to wait and see."
Stanley need to get back to winning form in the league as they have now gone three games without a win.
They did beat Frickley earlier on in the season but Coleman is remaining cautious.
"It was a difficult game at their place. A typical UniBond game. They have been in a good run of form recently and we will be have to be ultra cautious.
"But hopefully we will get back in winning ways and maintain our push to finish as high as possible up the league."
