A MENTALLY ill woman who tried to knife her friend when he refused her advances has been sent to hospital.
Burnley Crown Court heard Jacqueline Penney, 33, had attempted to kiss and straddle the victim and later tried to cut herself after he disarmed her.
Penney, of Thomas Street, Colne, had earlier admitted unlawful wounding.
The case was adjourned until March 22 and Judge David Pirie remanded the defendant to Burnley General Hospital for reports on her mental condition.
Rod Priestley, prosecuting, told the court the complainant had known the defendant for two years and was aware of her problems. Paul Hague, defending, said a pyschological report showed Penney was suffering from a mental illness.
Doctors were trying to get her a hospital bed so reports on her condition could be made.
