TEN Tory councillors are heading for London to demand more police and a new road to Fairfield Hospital.
They travel down on Thursday (Feb 28) to talk to Oliver Letwin, shadow home secretary, and Dr Liam Fox, shadow health secretary.
One of the delegation is Church ward councillor Jack Walton.
"Every week we hear of vandalism, muggings, violence on the streets and hooliganism," he said. "It's the main complaint we're getting from the public at our surgeries.
"The police appear not to be able to control it, or don't have the resources to control it. We're not getting a lot of joy from the Home Office, so thought we would see our man."
Coun Walton added: "We've collected a file of letters and articles which we're giving to Mr Letwin, with graphic details of what people have been subjected to, and we hope he can make appropriate representations."
Coun Walton said another issue people always raised was the lack of a dedicated access road to Fairfield, which was why the delegation was also seeing Dr Fox.
