RESIDENTS are invited to play their part in drawing up a cultural strategy for the borough.
The blueprint will cover everything from the arts and libraries to sport and leisure, parks and countryside to conservation, tourism and heritage.
All are welcome to attend a consultation evening to be held on Wednesday March 6 from 5.30pm-8pm at Bury Art Gallery.
Councillor Steve Perkins, executive member for lifelong learning, said: "The Government is encouraging all councils to develop cultural strategies, to promote the cultural well-being of local areas and integrate the major cultural goals of local authorities and their partner organisations in the community.
"We already have a number of plans in place, including culture, library service, museum and sports strategies. A draft heritage strategy will also be available shortly for consultation.
"At the consultation evening we will be looking to establish our cultural objectives and identify key areas for action. We also want to draft our cultural charter and establish a cultural partnership which will then take overall responsibility for the production and delivery of our strategy.
"I hope as many people as possible will take this opportunity to play a significant part in the way things develop."
Those interested in attending should contact 253 5863/5861.
