A COMMUNITY beat officer today renewed his appeal for information about drugs in a neighbourhood, after arresting a woman and the seizure of a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine and heroin.
PC Justin Brown said he would continue with a zero tolerance appraoch to drugs in the Stoops and Hargher Clough areas of Burnley following the arrest.
He said a woman arrested after officers seized a quantity of what they believe to be Class A drugs cocaine and heroin was "without a shadow of a doubt, the first of many."
The woman was arrested at her home in Cog Lane, Burnley, and subsequently bailed pending further forensic examination of the drugs.
PC Brown launched a crackdown in the community he patrols and said many residents supported his approach.
He said: "I get a lot of feedback from local residents who are worried about drugs and I share their concerns which is why, with support from my colleagues, I am adopting a zero tolerance approach to drugs.
"Suspected offenders will be targeted and, where there is sufficient evidence, they will be put before the courts.
"The arrest on Saturday will, without a shadow of a doubt, be the first of many."
PC Brown has called upon the support of residents to come forward with information to help make their area a drugs-free place.
Anybody with information about drugs can contact PC Brown on 01282 472968 or call Crimestoppers, free and in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
