RAIN did not deter one ten-year-old from fundraising for a TV appeal.
Hazel Johnson raised £110 for the Blue Peter's Help the Aged Appeal by holding a bring and buy sale and a cake stall at Cannon Street Baptist Church, Accrington, in the pouring rain.
Hazel, of St David's Wood, Accrington, said: "I enjoyed doing it. My sister Heather had one last summer when the appeal was for the NSPCC."
Valerie Johnson, Hazel's mother, said: "I am very proud of them both and Hazel has done really well.
"The Blue Peter appeals obviously really motivate the children to get involved with fund raising." Hazel said: "The appeal is for transport to help older people get around. I think they have reached the top of the totaliser but extra money is still coming in."
Hilda and Alan Shepherd, Hazel's grand parents, helped drum up support and help with donations from friends, family and churchgoers.
Hazel also enjoys dancing at the Dorothy Bruce School of Dancing, New Era, Accrington and is a member of Clayton Baptist Youth Club and the Girls' Brigade.
She has been involved in sponsored exercise classes and other events at her school, Peel Park, in Accrington.
