GRAEME Souness will decide whether to appeal against his charge of misconduct by the Football Association - but he doesn't take anything back.

The Rovers boss was in hot water over his behaviour towards referee Graham Barber during his side's FA Cup loss at Middlesbrough 10 days ago.

He was furious at Barber's decision to send off Lucas Neill in the second half for what the ref saw as a foul on Robbie Stockdale in their 1-0 fifth-round defeat at the Riverside.

Souness has 14 days to appeal against the charge.

The Ewood chief said: "If they think I was wrong then I will abide by the laws but it won't change my way of thinking on it.

"If I am guilty of breaking the law then so be it but I won't change my thinking about his performance.

"I will have to have a look at what the referee has said in his report and then I will make a judgement about whether to appeal."

Souness said at the Riverside at the time: "I thought the referee had a bad, bad game and the highlight of his performance was the sending off.

"If you look on the television he, Stockdale, is offside when he's played through, and when the players come together I don't think Lucas is the last man and the referee is actually waving play on.

"At that point the linesman raises his flag because the crowd roars and then anything can happen - and the worst thing happens.

"I used to think he, Barber, was half decent, one of the better ones, until today. What will that statement get me? Fined? Banned?

"But what happens to him? He will be back refereeing a Premier League game next week."

But the charge hasn't dampened the Rovers boss celebrations after the historic 2-1 Worthington Cup victory over Spurs on Sunday.

Having had a day to reflect on what his players achieved at Cardiff in the closed Millennium Stadium, he said: "It was just a great day. The players should be really proud. Cup finals are special and it was a special day.

"They have given the fans something to remember for a long time and I am pleased about that.

"We were hanging on in the last five minutes but I think justice was done.

"I have been involved in some games with great atmospheres but in that stadium this was one of the best. It was as good as any experience I have had. The stadium lends itself to big games and the Blacburn supporters were fantastic."
