A MAN who launched a violent attack in a Blackburn pub while on bail for slashing a young father's throat has been sent to jail.
Peter Furness, 34, and brother Geoffrey Wadley, 30, set upon Anthony Roake with a meat cleaver and a carving knife in front of his son.
The bloody attack turned the church-organised fete at a recreational ground, in Weybridge, Surrey into a scene of horror.
Mr Roake had voiced his disapproval when he saw Wadley allowing his three-year-old son sips of beer at the event on June 30 last year.
The 28-year-old was then set upon by four men as he left the event's disco that evening with his seven-year-old son, Max. He was slashed several times with the four-inch meat cleaver and carving knives and was fortunate to escape with his life.
Just one week after the savage attack, Furness went to Blackburn and bottled a local man as he was leaving a pub with his wife.
Furness was on bail until July 7 when he and a younger brother, Paul Davies, 21, attacked George Brown in the FJ Nichols pub, in Northgate.
Mr Vagg said Davies grabbed Mr Brown and punched him in the face.
"He was knocked to the floor and kicked about the body by Furness and Davies.
"Bouncers pulled them off the victim but Furness managed to get free and struck Brown above the right eye with a bottle or glass. Then Davies picked up a glass bottle but was restrained."
Furness told the police that Mr Brown was just jealous of them because they were drinking champagne.
Jailing Furness for eight years in total and former milkman Wadley for five years, Judge Harold Wilson said: "You two have to be sentenced for what was a really serious attack.
Furness, from Ashford, Middlesex, was convicted by a jury of wounding Mr Roake with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and jailed for seven years.
He admitted unlawfully wounding Mr Brown and affray for the second incident and was given 12 months consecutive, making eight years in total.
Wadley, of Heathervale Road, Weybridge, was sentenced to five years imprisonment after he admitted wounding with intent on Anthony Roake on June 30.
Davies, of Peter Street, Barrowford, Nelson, admitted affray and was sentenced to an 18-month combined community punishment and rehabilitation order on July 7.
