SHOULD Lord Square be done up or demolished?
With all that has been spent on the town centre, it makes me wonder whether Blackburn now has quite a lot of money and thinks it is too big to talk to shopping centre owners Standard Life, demanding that they take action on whether to spend money on major renovation of Lord Square or demolish it and spend £18million on rebuilding the site.
Surely, it must be obvious that Standard Life are heavily committed to Blackburn and the community and that it would be in their interest to spend some money on Lord Square.
But if Standard Life think that the honeymoon is over between them and Blackburn Council, all they have to do is to move six miles up the road to a reasonably-sized town that perhaps Blackburn Council and they have not heard of before -- called Darwen.
I and many other people would welcome Standard Life with open arms and we also have free parking.
ROY P DAVIES, Olive Lane, Darwen.
