BOUNDARY Mill Stores, Colne, came up with a brolly good way of raising money for Manchester's Christie Hospital.
Rain clouds above the stores helped to raise £12,500 for the cancer hospital through the sale of umbrellas.
The sale of hundreds of brollies, each with a £1 donation to Christie's coffers, was just one way the staff raised the cash. Other money-spinners were a Vegas-style charity casino, a race night, quizzes and other events organised by the staff social committee. Sales of Christie's teddies also boosted funds.
"Staff really enjoy getting involved in fund-raising," said site manager Jane McCullough adding: "Christie's was a popular cause because so many Lancashire people have been treated there."
