PRESTON Table Tennis Championship is to be played at Preston College Sports Centre, St Vincent's Road, Fulwood, on Saturday.
Last season's open champion Bill Ingram will be defending his title against some strong opposition.
Dean Walmsley, who lost in the semi-final last season, would have been a strong contender but unfortunately will be unable to play, due to having broken his leg.
In the junior event, title holder Daniel Martindale will be under pressure from newcomer Hannah Roberts, who has upset a number of senior players in the league this season. Last season's double champions, Dean Walmsley and Paul Robinson, will not be defending their title. The popular veterans singles event will be hotly contested, with champion Barry Crook facing a strong field of contenders.
The handicap is wide open with all the competitors are in with a chance.
In the divisionals, Don Melling will play Phil Petts from the VRCL Club, who tops the averages in this division.
Andrew Hindle of Springfields Club is favourite to win Division Two.
