TWO men were put in hospital following vicious attacks during separate incidents in Morecambe early on Sunday morning.
One of the men had to be given mouth to mouth resuscitation while the other, a visitor to the town, had to have his leg pinned after suffering a broken ankle.
The first attack took place between 1.45am and 2.22am when a 27-year-old from Failsworth left a local nightclub with friends.
The group turned off the main road into a small side street where they were confronted by a group of men.
First, the victim's, brother was attacked then the group turned on him.
He was knocked to the floor and had his ankle stamped on and broken.
The man was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary where pins were placed in his legs on Sunday.
In the second incident, a local man became involved in an argument with three men and a woman outside Castle Taxis on Queen Street in the resort between 2.30am and 2.57am.
The victim walked away from the argument but discovered that he was being followed by two of the men.
They punched him to the ground, knocking him unconscious and kicked him.
The men then walked away towards Pedder Street.
The man had to be given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before being taken to the RLI where he was treated for a broken nose and a fractured cheekbone before being released.
Police are not suggesting that the two incidents are linked.
Det Sgt Mark Salisbury of Morecambe Police, said: "Enquiries are in progress into both of these incidents and CCTV tapes are being studied.
We would appeal for any witnesses to come forward."
