PLANS to tackle an "infamous seven" of key crimes in the borough will come under scrutiny on Monday (March 4).

Police and council chiefs will be putting the spotlight on the borough's draft crime and disorder strategy.

Residents are also invited to the meeting of the economic and social regeneration scrutiny and review panel, which starts at 7pm in Bury Town Hall's Peel Room.

After extensive local survey, seven priorities have been agreed for the coming year's strategy. They are: vehicle crime, house burglary, robberies, domestic violence, racist crime and harassment, drug and alcohol related crime, and youth crime including anti-social behaviour.

Speakers will include the joint chairmen of the Bury Community Safety Partnership, Bury Council chief executive Mark Sanders and the head of Bury Police, Chief Superintendent Phil Hollowood.

There will also be short presentations by a range of council officers, followed by an open forum.
