COLNE boss John Lister will go into tomorrow's home game against struggling Ashton on a high after getting one over on local rivals Nelson on Wednesday night.
Lister's side beat the Blues 2-1 and, apart from a few aching legs, there is a clean bill of health in the Holt House camp as they look to finish as high up the league as possible.
"It was a good tough derby but I think in the end we were well worth our three points as we created the better chances and even missed a penalty at the end," said Lister.
And the Colne chief even had the luxury of being without Jonathan Irvine - the striker who scored more than 100 goals for Nelson before his switch to Holt House earlier this season.
Irvine is suspended until next week and will face a battle to regain his place in the side after good shows from the young strikeforce of George Craddock and Paul Fildes.
"Their pace caused Nelson all kinds of problems," confirmed Lister.
Gavin Cooper is still sidelined with a knee injury and could be out for up to four weeks but recent signing Gary Jervis from Bamber Bridge - who also plays for the Under 17s at the
LFA Academy - had a good debut on the left.
"We will savour the win against Nelson until Saturday when its back to the nitty gritty of playing Ashton and earning another three points!" added Lister.
