RAMSBOTTOM have a tough task when they welcome NWCL Division One leaders Prescot Cables to the Riverside, especially after three losses in their last four games.

But boss Mike Kelly refuses to look on that statistic and prefers to only focus on their last result - a 2-1 victory over Glossop.

"You are only as good as your last result and it is more important to me that we won our last game," said the Rams chief who is desperate to get a game on after countless postponements.

"I like playing against Prescot - even though they are flying. It is one of the games I look forward to.

"They are a good side, they have a good manager and they tend to play football.

"They are usually entertaining games.

"We have been to their place twice this season.

"In the Worthington Trophy, they beat us with a last minute goal and in the league we beat them with a last minute goal so it is all set up again."

The Rams are one of just four clubs to beat Prescot in the League, their win coming in mid November when Brad Franks and David Yorke-Robinson got the goals - in fact Yorke-Robinson quite likes Prescot having scored in both games against them.

And Kelly has almost a clean bill of health at the Riverside with Mike Langhorn (stitches) and Danny Goodall (hamstring) back from injury.

He has added Carl Lomax and Gary Lewis to his squad in recent weeks - and hasn't ruled out a number of new faces.

"I think everybody has had a fair crack of the whip and we are looking towards next season now so I will add to the squad.

"We have been putting the players through their paces in training.

"Chris Willcocks, the assistant, has been training them and we have worked really hard.

"I am glad I am not doing the training anyway! There are quite a few fit lads at our place and they are certainly being sorted out!"

Meanwhile, Ramsbottom are waiting to hear what their punishment will be from the Lancashire Football Association after pleading guilty to the fact Chris Willcocks made an 'illegal approach' to some Rossendale players.

Willcocks was a player at UniBond side Rossendale and still signed up for NWCL Division One side Ramsbottom when he made the 'approach'. He is now assistant boss at the Riverside.

The Rams expect there to be no hearing as they have pleaded guilty and are just waiting to hear from the LFA.
