WOMEN across East Lancashire are invited to get involved in a packed programme of events to celebrate this start of International Women's Week tomorrow.
Blackburn with Darwen councillor and vice-chairman of the International Women's Week Committee, Councillor Dorothy Walsh, said: "Blackburn with Darwen Council supports this week-long celebration that aims to recognise and value the diversity of women's contributions to activities within the local community and beyond.
"We would especially like to meet women who feel they would benefit from learning a new skill.
"Blackburn with Darwen has lots to offer in this field and I believe the old adage of 'you've nothing to lose and everything to gain' definitely applies. We hope women of the borough will come along to see what's on offer and hopefully take part in this special week.
"Events to celebrate the week cover a wide range of interests and issues and women from all walks of life are warmly invited to join in with this special week of celebration." Special lunches, breakfast events and conferences focusing on topics including domestic violence are planned as well as more light hearted activities such as yoga and health days.
