AS part of our fundraising efforts, Blackburn Lions each year take the charity shop in Cardwell Place for a week and friends and families donate clothing and household items that are still in good condition for sale at the shop. Lions and their partners and friends staff the shop for the week.
Last year, we raised around £850 and had a target this year of £1,000. But I am delighted that this year we raised £1,570.
This would not be possible without the generosity and hard work of the Lions and their friends, but at the end of the day, it is the generosity of the people of Blackburn that really counts.
It is proposed that the money is donated to the Air Ambulance based at Blackpool and it is likely that this will be approved at our next meeting.
HARRY PENNINGTON, President, Blackburn Lions.
