A MUSICAL 'pizza' workshop to help young people understand the workings of music was on the timetable for primary school pupils.
Nelson's Walton High School Orchestra performed for the visitors as part of an annual initiative which invites pupils from nearby primary schools to sample musical delights at the school.
Children from Castercliff County, Marsden Hall Road, Nelson, Bradley County, Dover Street, Nelson, and Wheatley Lane Methodist, Wheatley Lane, Nelson, were treated to a note-filled day out.
Head teacher David Farrant has been co-ordinating the workshops alongside Musical Director Mr Jennings for six years.
Mr Farrant explained: "We called the workshops Musical Pizza because we allow young people to come to our school to sample different areas of music.
"We invite pupils of a younger age to help them appreciate the workings of music and let them have a go for themselves.
"The children look forward to this every year and it is a way of introducing young people to music and the enjoyment it can bring.
