TRADERS on Blackburn Market have joined the information superhighway in a bid to boost their businesses.
Around 19 market stall holders have had a website created for them by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
The website allows businesses to trade over the internet, which means people who may have never visited the market before can sample its delights.
Each of the traders has a website of their own as part of the www.bwdbiz. net/markets site.
Blackburn with Darwen Council's digital development unit is hoping to encourage many more businesses to discover the benefits of using the Internet.
Their Marketing Online initiative aims to get traders started on the internet in a simple way and then introduce them to other businesses and organisations, which can help them develop their presence online.
The stalls involved include Dies 'n' Dolls, Brides 'n' Blooms, Aliphones, Brarwood Poultry, Moorey's Health Store, Menerva Fabrics and Pickups Butchers.
The council is now looking to assist Darwen Market traders and self-employed artists in developing similar sites.
