TOP Ian Brown fan Mark McKay proved he would go to any lengths to have a souvenir of his idol.
The 30-year-old driver bumped into the former Stone Roses frontman after his concert at Blackburn's King George's Hall.
The star-struck fan immediately asked for his autograph and dug around in his pocket for something for him to scribble on. All he could find was a £10 note and a £20 note, which the rock star signed.
Mark handed over the £20 -- complete with Ian Brown's signature on -- to his friend and kept the £10 for himself.
But when he came to get a taxi home to Great Harwood at the end of the night he realised he had only his precious souvenir left.
Mark said: "I had £3 and the £10 note left and there was no way I was spending the signed note. I gave him £3 and when that ran out I walked the rest of the way. I was a bit drunk at the time but I remember it was a fair walk."
Although Mark got home drenched and shivering, he said it was well worth the effort.
And he revealed that his pal has already lost his. Mark said: "He put his £20 in the bank without realising it. He's gutted."
Mark, who has been a fan of the Stone Roses since they exploded on the scene when they led the 'Madchester' scene of the late 80s and early 90s, said he bumped into Ian in a town centre cafe hours after the gig.
He said all his friends had gone home and he popped into the cafe after spying some lads he knew. The next thing he knew in walked his hero.
Mark said: "I went up to him and shook his hand for a top night. When I got the notes out for his autograph he said to me 'you must be loaded'.
"I had a good laugh with him and then he left. It was great to meet him, he was really down to earth. I wish I had not given away the £20 now, my mates are all jealous."
