STATISTICS will show that Padiham had more possession and more chances than their NWCL Division Two opponents but got no goals and no points from an away game they should have won.
Padiham's Craig Wilkinson had the first opening of the match when he ran onto a crossfield pass from Shaun Kendall but shot over from a good scoring position after only five minutes.
Dean Stowe failed to get any power on a shot in the Storks next attack. And, after 15 minutes, Chadderton keeper Lee Grogan pulled off a stunning save to keep out Ian Whittaker's close-range shot which looked odds-on to produce the opening goal.
Instead, it was Chadderton who broke the deadlock when against the run of play Martin Hardman got the better of Storks skipper Jamie Edmondson and placed his shot past Padiham's keeper Kirk Marsden to give the home side a 20th minute lead.
Ian Pilkington shot over the in the 25th minute and Ian Whittaker had another goal effort tipped round the post 10 minutes later as the Storks battled for the equaliser.
In the second half it was all one-way traffic with Fullard, Pilkington, Forrest, Wilkinson, Whittaker and Stowe all creating chances and McCluskey and Kendal going close from free kicks. The breakthrough never though.CHADDERTON...1 PADIHAM...0
