MOORHEAD High School is a mixed 11-16 comprehensive school. It was formed by the amalgamation of Accrington Grammar School for Boys and Accrington High School for Girls in 1975.
At present we are a two-site school, separated by our playing fields, but this is changing as you read!
Our extensive renovations and new building work are almost finished and we hope to start moving into the new section in September.
Next week we are seeking the opinion of staff, students and governors about a new school uniform - for a new start.
We are a community based school serving the whole of the Accrington, Clayton-le-Moors, Huncoat, Great Harwood, Hapton, Church and Oswaldtwistle areas and we also take in some students from Blackburn and Burnley.
Our pupils have a range of out of school activities to participate in: sports teams, chess club, literacy club, breakfast club, homework club and lunchtime club to mention but a few.
The end of term brings a range of activities and trips for those students who have shown themselves to be hard working and responsible, eg bowling, ice skating, paint balling, cinema visits and discos.
