POLICE have launched an investigation after a petrol bomb was thrown at a Bury house.
The crude incendiary device struck the rear kitchen window of the property in Houghton Street, Bury, at 9.40pm on Sunday (March 3).
The occupant of a the house, a 43-year-old man, was asleep on the settee when he heard the back window smash. He then smelt a strong smell of petrol.
Fortunately, the petrol bomb exploded externally leaving scorch marks on the rear wall.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood said: "There is no known motive for this incident."
