A RECORD £33,000 was raised in just over two hours when 300 stars of sport and television mingled at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors.
This means that over £275 was raised every minute to go towards the Breakthrough Breast Cancer fund.
The money was raised from an auction of items ranging from a dinner for two at the House of Commons to The Garden at Highgrove book donated and signed by Prince Charles.
The biggest single amount raised was £3,400 for a week's accommodation for six people in Puerto Banus, Marbella.
Neville Neville, father of Manchester United and England football players Phil and Gary Neville, stepped in to help with the auction as MC for the event.
Marie Stansfield, who set out to raise money for the charity when her sister Carmelina lost her battle with the disease four years ago, said: "Over the years some very generous people have helped us raise almost £100,000 but this was by far the most successful evening so far.
