A RECRUITMENT drive has been launched by Blackburn with Darwen Council and Childcare Partnership.
The search comes following an initiative to create 1,580 new childcare places by 2004 and 330 new jobs in the area.
More staff will be required for nurseries, pre-schools, nurseries, out-of-school clubs, crches, playgroups and family centres. A weekend fair at King George's Hall, Blackburn, provided information about job and training opportunities.
Men and women of all cultures, ages, social backgrounds and physical abilities, including those who have retired or had a career break, are being encouraged to consider a new career in childcare.
Professionals were on hand to provide a range of information and advice about working with children. A series of free training courses, recruitment pool and the monthly bulletin advertising job vacancies were available.
