IT'S BACK! Radio station Burn FM radio station was re-launched today with a host of new faces behind the microphones and thousands of pounds worth of prizes to give away.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Blackburn with Darwen attended the event at 10.30am, launching another 28-day broadcast.
And the team said they are back bigger and stronger than ever.
Backed by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, The Fusion Radio Group and other local investors, the station will again focus on local news, sport and travel, plus national news.
The station has been awarded a second licence from the Radio Authority to run for 28 days until April 1, coinciding with Easter and the Blackburn Shopping Festival.
The previous broadcast between September 17 and October 14 attracted more than 26,000 listeners.
The station now has a news editor, Liz Roffey, and Paul Booth, 25, is lending his talents to the drive time show each weekday from 3pm, having worked at Jazz FM, Radio Lancashire and Red Rose Gold.
"It's great to be back working for The Burn because it is so professionally run and the town really needs it's own station."
Martin Wyatt, 24, who has worked internationally in the broadcast industry, is now back for the sports show on Saturday afternoons.
"It's so much more enjoyable to be working on home turf with people you know.
"All we need now is everyone to get involved in the station, especially with local news and sport."
Keith Macklin and Lancashire Evening Telegraph sports reporters Andy Neild and Steve Tinniswood will be heading off a sports preview on Friday evenings.
And the team will be giving away prizes from local businesses.
Two cameras a day will be given away as well as a digital camera, thousand of pounds worth of jewellery, flying lessons and meals at local restaurants.
