COME on lads, a joke's a joke. Glenn Trobe ran his socks off for you boys at Darwen Alex and was rightly named Player of the Season.

He picked up his two trophies at the presentation night at Whitehall Country Club -- where Frank Worthington was guest speaker -- and put them behind the bar for safe keeping as he partied in to the night.

But on his return the trophies had gone and there has been no sight of them since.

And that was last season!

"It's a mystery," said Tony Walmsley, manager of the Blackburn Combination Premier League side. "Glenn went back to Whitehall and somebody else had already picked them up.

"It's obviously one of the lads having a joke."

So give him a break lads as time is running out.

If anyone does know the whereabouts of the trophies they should give Tony a ring or drop me a line.

It has been brought to my attention that Lower Darwen were the first team to successfully defend the Blackburn with Darwen Council's senior five-a-side crown.

The club, as I was rightly told by manager Andy Catterall, lifted the cup for the second year running and for the third time in six years.

Mad Caps Trio, I quite understand if you wish to remain anonymous in your council offices overlooking the Boulevard.

You have made a grand gesture to donate £50 of winners to Children In Need and if you wish to hide behind your MC3 veil you are quite entitled to.

I fully comprehend that you must be working on some top secret assignment -- maybe you're trainee spies as you seem to know so much about me -- and if your cover was blown it would be curtains for the lot of us.

And of course I realise that one picture of your ugly mugs in your own in-house publication in front of your Wall of Fame is enough for anyone.

I have my connections as well you know!

And as for comedy disguises...I thought you were wearing them!

Akzo Nobel Reserves Stuart Nicol almost made me eat my words on Saturday.

The fast-talking Scot was one of the substitutes for the Blackburn Combination Division Three clash against Havelock -- and he clearly remembered me from a game I had covered a few seasons ago.

Because I said his goal was offside!

"Remember me," said Stuart. "I told you I would get on and score but you wrote that I was offside. But the referee didn't see it and I think I was just too quick for you."

That was a few seasons ago when Stuart was playing for Anchor against Witton Inn.

"I'm going to get on and score again this time."

And he came close.

Stuart got a late run out and nearly scored after latching on to a quick throw-in, he burst in to the box but was denied a goal thanks to a great save by Darren Slater.

I don't think the goal would have stood though as I am sure I spotted a hand ball in there somewhere!

Burn FM is back on the air this week and once again I will be having a quick look (180 seconds to be precise) at local league football in the Blackburn area.

Tune in and count how many times I say "um!"
