THE GRAND was alive with the sound of music as nuns, Nazis and von Trapp children gathered for a night of Julie-worship and song.
I'm talking of course of Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music which visited the town for one fun-filled night of song and mirth.
Like Rocky Horror without the filth, this thoroughly modern concept attracted an audience who had no qualms about dressing up, cheering a film, and crouching behind seats pretending to hide from Nazis.
Once you realise that everyone is too busy remembering what to wave, shout or do at any particular time to care about how daft they might look, you begin to see what a lot of fun this can be.
Sing-A-Long-A Sound of Music has gained a great reputation, obvious by the sheer numbers crammed into the theatre.
The night was not just about the film, however. There were also fancy dress competitions featuring just about every character from the film, and some were even dressed as the scenery.
Fun, bizarre, not for the faint-hearted (nor sober), but an experience never to be forgotten!
