I WONDER if you would be so kind as to allow me to express the thanks of my charity, Animal Concern, to one of your city councillors, Mort Allan, who despite health difficulties still manages to fundraise for us, and last February 22, successfully raised in excess of £250 at a charity event he organised at the Waterfront Bar at the Dome.
Although Cllr Allan no longer has the contract for looking after the strays in your area, a job he did for nine years, he does not forget our charity and the heavy burden of work we undertake to assist him and thus avoid putting down healthy animals - something he could not bear to do.
Our charity has found homing difficult because of the foot and mouth crisis, and without fund-raising our finances are heavily over-stretched.
I know that Cllr Allan is endeavouring to help in the work we do in your area.Again, may I warmly express our gratitude to Cllr Allan and to all who attended the charity event.
