COPIES of a new police road safety video are to be provided for staff at Burnley and Pendle Transport.
The bus company is helping police to highlight the issue of road safety and play its part in helping to drive down casualty figures.
The video has been produced by the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership, a multi-agency group committed to reducing the levels of death and injury on the county's roads.
A police spokesman said they had chosen Burnley and Pendle Transport for the launch because they had a good relationship, having recently launched a CCTV scheme on buses.
They had been chosen for the launch before it came to light that one of their drivers was facing a drink-driving charge for which he is due to appear before Hyndburn magistrates on March 27 for sentence.
The video deals with road safety issues including speed, seat belts and drink driving.
It will be handed over to the bus company by Insp Dave Shepherd of the Pennine division road policing unit on Monday.
He said: "Each year 9,000 people are injured in road crashes in Lancashire, 1,000 of those are seriously injured and sadly 70 are killed.
"The aim of the Lancashire Road Safety Partnership of which Lancashire Constabulary is a member is to significantly reduce those figures and help save lives."
He added: "The video is just one of the tools we are using to educate groups and individuals about road safety.
"By making it available to Burnley and Pendle Transport we hope to increase road safety awareness amongst all the firm's staff."
