THE fire service hopes a new scheme for youngsters in Burnley will teach them to be good citizens.
The Young Firefighters Group started at Burnley Fire Station five weeks ago is aimed at 12-18-year-olds.
So far youngsters have been taught about health and safety, first aid and how to tie knots and lines. They will eventually get involved in community projects.
Kevin Murray, station commander at Burnley Fire Station, said the scheme was more about 'good citizenship' than grooming the group for a firefighting career.
