A MAN was tripped and then punched and kicked in the face by two thieves in a Blackpool street on February 25.

The 36-year-old man was walking down Banks Street between 1.15am and 1.45am when he heard footsteps behind him.

Two men behind him then tripped him to the ground and one of them kicked him in the head and demanded money.

When he told them he had no money the two kicked and punched him several times in the head and face. He then handed over his wallet. The two thieves hit him again before running off with his wallet, containing £35 cash, cash cards and personal papers.

The man suffered cuts and swelling to the top of his head and forehead and cuts to the inside of his bottom lip and his chin.

The two thieves were both white and in their late teens to early 20s. One had fair skin, staring eyes and was of medium to stocky build. He was 5ft 8ins to 5ft 11ins tall and spoke with a local accent. He wore a dark grey bobble hat with a logo or motif on it, a dark blue or black bubble jacket and dark trousers.

The other was 5ft 8ins to 5ft 11ins tall with cropped hair and wore a two-tone jacket which was possibly black and grey, and dark trousers.
