MORECAMBE make their first ever league visit to Underhill, home of Barnet this Saturday.

The Shrimps never faced Barnet during the London club's first spell in the Conference and won 1-0 in the first encounter between the clubs early in the season.

It will represent a pleasant change for Jim Harvey's men who are coming off a run of three matches against the same opponents, with their second victory of the week against Scarborough on Saturday.

The Shrimps took themselves up to sixth place in the Conference, immediately below rivals Southport, and again look on course to claim a place in the top half of the Conference table.

The home side took the lead with a goal inside the opening two minutes.

Garry Thompson's pace allowed him to get behind the Seadogs defence and pick out John Norman, who nodded the ball past Andy Woods inside the six-yard box.

Much travelled midfielder Mark Patterson, returning to Lancashire to face one of the few red rose sides he hasn't played for (yet) shot narrowly wide in the first half, while former England youth international Jason Blunt, plucked by Scarborough from the obscurity of Italian Serie D football, fired wide in the second half.

After the break, Morecambe took the opportunity to bring the latest young talent off the Christie Park development conveyor belt.

Teenage forward Danny Carlton replaced Norman on 61 minutes and the youngster wasted little time in making an impact.

Carlton linked with Thompson on 80 minutes and carved out a chance which Wayne Curtis had no problem in tucking away.

Morecambe would have hoped to have ended the game with the thoughts of that combination of young talent still fresh in their minds.

However, there was still time for a mass brawl and two sendings off in the remaining 10 minutes.

Patterson went first for a second booking and, in the dying seconds, Curtis walked for his role in the unpleasant exchange of blows, which brought the curtain down on Christie Park's own version of Groundhog Day.
