ROSSENDALE have put seven days on Clitheroe skipper Neil Reynolds but they look likely to be thwarted by injury.
The midfielder hurt his knee in the Blues 1-1 draw at Flixton on Tuesday night and will face a spell on the sidelines.
But Dale chief Jim McCluskie thinks the addition of a fit Reynolds, if he chose to leave Shawbridge, would be a boost for his side.
"We think Neil could give us a bit of bite in midfield that we are missing," said the Dale chief. "I have watched him two or three times but I waited until Clitheroe had finished in the FA Vase. We will see what happens."
The Dark Lane boss is looking to add to his squad as they bid to get back on the right track for a promotion push from the UniBond First Division.
Dale have gone six games without a League win and haven't scored a goal in their last two games.
One of these was against tomorrow's opponents Kendal last Saturday - and McCluskie is demanding a big improvement for the re-match in Cumbria.
"I was disappointed after last Saturday and one or two of the lads have something to prove between now and the end of the season.
"They are fighting for their places and if they come out with the same performance as they did against Kendal last time, they won't play for us anymore, it is as simple as that.
"We have had some good times here and now we are going through a blip. It is a test of people's character. My reaction as a player would have been to work twice as hard and do something about it."
Dale also slipped up midweek with a 2-0 loss to North Ferriby but they did concede early and couldn't find a way back.
"It was a horrendous start but we did work hard. The strikers are just not taking their chances."
Chris Scott who has been a 'massive' influence at the back since his move from Conference side Leigh RMI is back following a four match ban, and Jason Heffernan and Paul Lynch are also in contention.
"Chris has been itching to get back and we have missed him. He is a good talker and organiser so it is good to have him back."
