LEIGH Centurions' Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Challenge Cup quarter-final with favourites Wigan next Sunday is close to a sell-out after the Northern Ford Premiership promotion chasers sold their 5,500 ticket allocation in just 36 hours.
The capacity of the Hilton Park ground has been restricted to 10,000 due to safety reasons but Leigh chief executive Tommy Cunningham said: "We could have sold 10,000 tickets on our own. There are a lot of disappointed people."
Delighted Centurions chairman Mike Nolan said: "This is an indication of the magic of the cup and proves that there is still a passion for rugby league in Leigh."
Wigan have so far restricted sales of their 4,500 allocation to season-ticket holders and will put any remaining tickets on general sale on Monday.
