I WAS very sorry to hear about the non-return of Blackburn station's old platform clocks (LET, February 13).
IN 1941-42, I was a train booker on platform 6, with a desk and a big book under the clock there.
This timepiece was used by me and the guards to make sure the trains left on time -- which, in those days, they nearly always did.
