St PIUS X Prep School have struck a double Athletics gold.
They claimed their first gold in the Lancashire Sportshall Athletics competition after a closely-fought final round at Hyndburn.
Then a mixed team of three boys and three girls won gold at a triathlon event at Westview Leisure Centre.
The first success was notched up by the boys' athletics team from St Pius who went into the third round of the Sportshall Athletics event equal first with Preston Harriers. But three first places at Hyndburn in the finals of the speed bounce, javelin and ball events earned St Pius the top spot and gold medals.
The Triathlon Competition featured athletes from five schools who competed in a circuit event in the gym, a swimming event and a 1000 metre run.
It's the second year running that the St Pius boys' team has won the Sporthall Athletics trophy and this year's successful squad was Giles Martin, Richard Talbot, Miles Mollinga, Christopher Scott, Robert Kos and Rody Hothersall.
The St Pius team -- Rody Hothersall, Christopher Scott, Sam Fleuriot, Sarah Kelsey, Anna Lavelle and Katie Harrison -- earned gold medals with a combination of winning performances, narrowly beating rivals Highfield Preparatory School into second place.
