A 43-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist died after a head-on collision with a car.
Roy O'Hagan was riding his Honda Fireblade along Bury Old Road towards Ainsworth when the accident happened on Thursday evening (March 7).
The Bolton man's machine was in collision with a Ford Mondeo near to the junction of Arthur Lane at around 9.40pm.
Mr O'Hagan was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital where he died later from his injuries.
The driver of the car, a 29-year-old Bury man, was not injured.
Red Lane was closed at the junction with Deepdale Road and Arthur Lane at the junction with Bury Old Road for four hours while accident investigators attended the scene.
Police in Bury have now launched an appeal for witnesses to the accident.
PC Andy Williams of Bury Traffic Unit said: "The motorcycle and the car were travelling in opposite directions when they collided.
"We would like to speak to anyone who was on Bury Old Road in Ainsworth and saw either vehicle before the crash or the accident itself."
