A WOMAN, aged 82, is recovering at home in Leigh today, after a man broke into her home and threatened to kill her.
The victim awoke at about 3.30am to find a man wearing a balaclava in her home. The man forced her to the floor putting his hand over her mouth and demanded money from her. He told the victim that if she did not comply, then he would kill her.
The man stole a quantity of cash and jewellery from the terrified woman and ran off carrying it in a bag he had also stolen from the victim..
The man - who was wearing a full-face balaclava - was also wearing a dark coloured top and dark woolly gloves.
Sgt Martin Reddington of Leigh Police said: "The victim was left extremely upset and traumatised by this I would like to appeal to anyone who may know who was responsible to get in contact with us on 0161 856 7254."
