POLICE made an arrest the third time a man went into Darwen police station to complain about being assaulted.
But Blackburn magistrates heard it was Paul Wilson who ended up behind bars after he became abusive to a female officer when he thought his complaint was not being taken seriously.
Wilson, 20, of Primrose Terrace, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £55 costs.
Tom Snape, prosecuting, said PC Angela Paxton had gone to the inquiry desk to speak to Wilson and she could see that he was drunk and that he had injuries to his face.
He complained of being assaulted and began to make threats against those responsible. The officer warned Wilson about his language and he became abusive to the officer and squared up to her.
Basharat Ditta, defending, said it was the third time Wilson had been into the station to complain but the officer had not been able to take a statement because he had been drinking.
"The officer asked him to come back and he took exception to that," said Mr Ditta. "His behaviour was repulsive and he apologises for that."
